As I counted down the hours until my last final exam of my junior year, I anticipated what my summer had in store for me. I was thrilled when I was offered an apprentice position at You Name It Events & Administration and I couldn’t wait to get started and learn about the business! At our first get together at Leanne’s house we chatted and got to know each other better while dividing up the projects we all needed to accomplish this summer for the business. I am excited to be a part of the growth of this company and I look forward to the skills I will acquire from each member of our team!
My first day in the office Leanne showed me around the office and I was able to do research for an event on one of my favorite websites—Pinterest! We also worked on putting together ideas for a Mother’s Day gift basket which was fun to brainstorm and get creative with. I believe I will learn something new each day about the wedding and event planning industry through this apprenticeship, and I am looking forward to work our first wedding! I hope to learn a lot from You Name It Events & Administration because I would like to make this a career someday soon! Here’s how the Mother’s Day basket turned out!
We explored the recepients pin boards on Pinterest as inspiration for what gifts to give her on her special day!
We found some fun recipes on her pin boards of items she wanted to make and bought the ingredients and put them together for her!
We found some inspirational quotes from her pin boards and printed them and framed them so she can put them around her house!
We found some jewelry that she has wanted for a while from her pin boards and put them together in pretty packaging for her!
And here is the finished product all wrapped up! She also recieved gift certificates for a family portrait session and a nail salon appointment. She loved everything and had a wonderful Mother’s Day, and we hope you did too!
One of the most fun things we get to do at You Name It Events is train folks who are interested in event planning! Last year was the inaugural year for our Summer Apprentice program, and we had an awesome time meeting, getting to know and training Sarah – who continues to work with us today. This year, we are excited to announce we have made our selections for our Summer 2013 Apprentice class – and couldn’t be more excited to work with the two young ladies who have earned a place in our company for this year’s wedding season. We received numerous applications from many talented people, and making the final decision was very difficult! We are so grateful for the interest and effort expressed by all of the candidates and are also very excited to introduce you to:
Katie Arena. Katie is very excited to be a part of the second apprentice class for You Name It this summer. This will be her first introduction to the world of event planning, and she can’t wait to learn more about this industry! She graduated with a BS in Elementary Education from Northern Illinois University and currently works as a preschool teacher. She will be working primarily with Leanne on administrative projects as well as gaining hands on event experience.
Megan Fechner. Megan is currently in her junior year at Michigan State University majoring in Communication. Originally from Downers Grove, Ill., she has long held a strong interest in wedding and event planning and is looking forward to gaining hands-on experience in the field. She is excited to utilize her organizational skills and friendly personality while working with Sarah in the marketing area.
We are proud to welcome Katie & Megan to the YNI family and look forward to working with them and getting to know them this summer! We are confident they will bring great energy to their work and are thankful for their interest in and commitment to learning more about the best custom event planning available in the Chicagoland area. Congratulations and welcome, Katie & Megan!
