Bon Anniversaire, Whitney!

We were so lucky to help Whitney celebrate her 30th birthday with a day of très chic fun and food. To start her French-inspired celebration, friends and family joined Whitney at Chez Moi in Geneva for a delicious brunch. Here, we began the day’s trend of burlap accessories, which added the perfect amount of country flair. The decor offered a great background while guests enjoyed yummy quiche and salad along with each other’s company! In addition to this delectable meal, out-of-town guests also received beautifully embellished totes to bring home with them.

Shortly after brunch, the soirée headed back to Whitney’s home for some wine, cheese, and an array of French-inspired treats. The burlap accents continued throughout the celebration in the form of hand-stenciled signs that presented everything from the café to the bon bons (desserts by The Sugar Path and macaroons by Cocoa Bean). The burlap, coupled with the floral arrangements (by Faith at Elizabeth Wray Design) and pearl accents, made for an elegant, French Countryside atmosphere.

Guests started the night with a fun game of rating wines and cheeses and ended with a take-home gift of French Countryside spices from The Spice House (all wrapped up in burlap, of course!). With an exquisite display of food from True Cuisine, and a birthday crème brûlée, this was one celebration that will surely not be forgotten!

Megan’s First Project: Mother’s Day Gift Basket

As I counted down the hours until my last final exam of my junior year, I anticipated what my summer had in store for me. I was thrilled when I was offered an apprentice position at You Name It Events & Administration and I couldn’t wait to get started and learn about the business! At our first get together at Leanne’s house we chatted and got to know each other better while dividing up the projects we all needed to accomplish this summer for the business. I am excited to be a part of the growth of this company and I look forward to the skills I will acquire from each member of our team!

My first day in the office Leanne showed me around the office and I was able to do research for an event on one of my favorite websites—Pinterest! We also worked on putting together ideas for a Mother’s Day gift basket which was fun to brainstorm and get creative with. I believe I will learn something new each day about the wedding and event planning industry through this apprenticeship, and I am looking forward to work our first wedding! I hope to learn a lot from You Name It Events & Administration because I would like to make this a career someday soon! Here’s how the Mother’s Day basket turned out!

An 80th Birthday Surprise Party

Jennifer and her family hired You Name It over the summer to set up her a surprise swimming-themed party for her mother’s 80th birthday this past summer. The birthday girl, Joan, has taught swimming lessons for over 40 years! Following the swimming theme, we used multi-colored diving rings, blue balloons, and aqua table covers to decorate the kitchen, dining, and outside tables. We helped with the logistics so the surprise could go off without a hitch! Over 50 guests enjoyed this simple event and our assistance made it possible. We were so glad to be able to help make it happen – from getting the table/chari rental arranged, to setting the drinks on ice and getting the simple decor ready in time for guests to come – our simple set up service helped make it possible!
