Chicago was recently named the second highest place in the country to host a wedding! With as much as weddings can cost, lots of folks are curious about the idea of wedding/event insurance. Investing tens of thousands of dollars in one day can feel risky. For most any other event or expense of this magnitude, we would not do so without some type of contingency plan. One such option is wedding or event insurance.

If you are the kind of person who enjoys having extra peace of mind- wedding insurance might be for you! We actually specify in our contract that our services are not insurance, nor do they include insurance because we really want our clients to consider if event insurance is a good step for them before moving too far into their planning process.

We suggest you think about your total investment in the day: financial, emotional, time & effort, travel, time off work, etc. and it really does add up! You can often get a good amount of coverage for a few hundred dollars or less. We suggest our clients at least get some insurance quotes to review.

We don’t endorse any specific company, but we always recommend doing your research! A call to your homeowner’s insurance broker is often a good place to start. Some of the leading event-specific insurance providers are: wedsure.com, wedsafe.com, and protectmywedding.com. These would be worth checking out as well.

If you want some more resources on wedding insurance, you can also scope out The Knot.com’s Wedding Insurance 101.

Brides.com has also made it easy to compare many different wedding insurance companies by doing the research for you and presenting it in a simple format. You can check that out here.

If wedding insurance is the best idea for you, you are sure to find the right fit using these resources! Happy planning!
